World Survey of Citrus Irrigation
نویسنده
چکیده
The above background information indicates that -citrus, as the most important tree fruit crop, amply justifies international training programs such as this short course on irrigation. Your Florida hosts are to be commended on their vision and desire to serve citrus growers everywhere in arranging these sessions-especially considering that citrus in Florida was largely unirrigated until recently. I am proud to be invited to participate. I will discuss briefly here the origin and natural habitat of citrus, summarize the hiStory of citrus irrigation, survey the current worldwide citrus irrigation picture, and discuss the possible implications of some of the newer irrigation methods for the future.

Comparing theoretical irrigation requirement and actual irrigation for citrus in Florida
Florida ranks first in citrus production, with nearly 68% of all U.S. citrus growing in the season 2005–2006. Most of the citrus groves are located from central to south Florida, and agricultural irrigation permitting is regulated by three of Florida’s five water management districts. Most of the permitting for citrus production in Highlands, Polk and Hillsborough counties is conducted by the S...
متن کاملThe effects of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungus and water stress on some antioxidant enzymes activities and nutrients uptake of two citrus rootstocks
ABSTRACT-Water stress is the main cause for crop yield reduction in the majority of agricultural regions of the world because it affects almost all plant functions. The effects of Glomus mosseae on growth, nutrients uptake, and antioxidant enzymes of sour orange (Citrus aurantium) and rough lemon) Citrus jambheri) rootstocks were assessed in sterilized soil under greenhouse conditions. A three...
متن کاملMonitoring Citrus Soil Moisture and Nutrients Using an IoT Based System
Chongqing mountain citrus orchard is one of the main origins of Chinese citrus. Its planting terrain is complex and soil parent material is diverse. Currently, the citrus fertilization, irrigation and other management processes still have great blindness. They usually use the same pattern and the same formula rather than considering the orchard terrain features, soil differences, species charac...
متن کاملPotential perchlorate exposure from Citrus sp. irrigated with contaminated water.
Citrus produced in the southwestern United States is often irrigated with perchlorate-contaminated water. This irrigation water includes Colorado River water which is contaminated with perchlorate from a manufacturing plant previously located near the Las Vegas Wash, and ground water from wells in Riverside and San Bernardino counties of California which are affected by a perchlorate plume asso...
متن کاملFertigation Frequency Affects Growth and Water and Nitrogen Use Efficiencies of Swingle Citrumelo Citrus Rootstock Seedlings
We determined if frequency of application of irrigation water plus fertilizer in solution (fertigation) could modify root and shoot growth along with growth per unit nitrogen (N) and water uptake of seedlings of the citrus rootstock Swingle citrumelo growing in a greenhouse. In the first experiment, all plants received the same amount of water with sufficient fertilizer N but in three irrigatio...
